While many actors capture the silver screen with their feats of heroism and danger – flying planes and driving fast cars in stunts designed to leave the viewer breathless – we don’t hear many stories of them becoming real-life heroes.
But around noon on Sunday in Santa Paula, California, actor Harrison Ford – famous for roles including the title character in the Indiana Jones franchise and Han Solo in Star Wars – became one of those heroes he often portrays in the movies when he came to the aid of a woman who had been involved in an accident.
Santa Paula Police department Senior Officer Matt Alonzo was on the scene of the rollover crash where the actor was sighted. A sedan had hit a tree in the vicinity of Highway 126.
Ford was in the area with a friend when they heard the crash and quickly rushed to the woman’s aid.
“He acted as a good Samaritan, just like everybody else, and tried to help before emergency services arrived,” Officer Alonzo said.
The actor served as part of a group of good Samaritans who managed to pull the driver from the car. Thankfully, she escaped with only minor injuries.
The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of the crash.
The crash took place near the Santa Paula Airport where the actor – an avid pilot – told officers he’d been earlier that day.
So far, Ford has refused to comment on the crash or the assistance he provided to the victim. He wasn’t the only one who sprang into action – he was just doing what any decent human being would when seeing someone in need.
We’re glad Ford and the others who rushed to help were close to the crash so they could assist the woman. There’s not much else that can send your heart into your throat like an accident. We’re sure the driver is thankful for those who helped her and for her life which was spared that day.
Do you agree that Ford and the others who helped this woman are heroes? Then share this!
